Can my eBook have color?

Yes.

Your eBook can have color images, but we won’t be able to incorporate colored text. We do not have the capabilities to change text color. We can display a small portion of colored text as an image, but recommend doing this only when absolutely necessary. For more information, see our eBook Limitations.

Many popular eReaders currently don’t display color, as they use eInk, which is greyscale. If you provide us with color images, they will appear in color on the iPad and the NookColor, but all other eReaders will render them as black and white.
