Digital Book Reviewer Program Terms And Conditions

This Agreement is between the Customer and the marketing and public relations division of Hillcrest Media Group, Inc., 322 First Avenue N, Suite 500, Minneapolis, MN 55401 (“Hillcrest”). Hillcrest marketing and public relations divisions includes those in PublicEye, Mill City Press, Publish Green, and BookPrinting.com. This Agreement covers the parties’ respective obligations regarding the implementation of the Digital Book Reviewer Program Terms And Conditions (“Service”).

These terms and conditions incorporate theGeneral Terms and Conditions for Additional Services offered by Hillcrest Media Group.

1. DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE

  • Customer’s book is made available to over 88,000 reviewers, libraries, educators, media professionals and booksellers for one (1) month through the Digital Book Reviewer Program

  • A campaign summary message provided to the author at the end of the campaign in the Marketing Message Center that covers the number of downloads and reviews the author received during the campaign

A. Responsibility of Customer

All books submitted to reviewers through the Digital Book Reviewer Program are in a digital format. Customer is responsible for providing Hillcrest Media Group with either a PDF, EPUB or MOBI file. Customer is responsible for providing a book cover image in JPEG. If Hillcrest is the publisher of Customer’s book, Hillcrest shall supply the PDF and cover image. Customer is responsible for providing the book’s ISBN, price, preferred name of publisher, and publication date. Customer is responsible for providing book synopsis copy of no less than 250 words. If Hillcrest requires additional synopsis copy, the Customer must provide additional copy as requested. Customer may ask that, for a fee to be mutually agreed upon, Hillcrest create additional copy. Service cannot commence until the book, cover, ISBN, price, name of publisher, publication date, and the synopsis are received by Hillcrest in the proper format.

B. Responsibility of Hillcrest

During service execution, Hillcrest will monitor incoming reviews on Customer’s book. Customer acknowledges that Hillcrest has no control over the nature of reviews. Upon service completion, Hillcrest will provide Customer a campaign summary, which provides Customer with any reviews they may have received during service execution.

2. NO GUARANTEE OF SALES, TRAFFIC

Hillcrest does not and cannot guarantee:

  • Increased book sales

  • Any number of book requests

  • Any number of book reviews

  • Any increase in Customer title-related news

  • Increased website/blog/social media traffic

Customer acknowledges that purchasing this Service is not a guarantee of sale of Customer’s book or any specific results such as a guaranteed number of interviews, book reviews, articles, any specific number visits from blogs, mentions in blogs, etc., and that Hillcrest makes no guarantee concerning the outcome of the Service.

3. FEES, TERM AND TERMINATION

A. Fees

Customer acknowledges that the fee for this service is $399 for a one-month listing and once commenced by Hillcrest Media Group, there are no refunds. “Commencement” is when Customer pays for the service.

B. Initial Term

Book will be made available as set forth in Section 6(A) or 6(B).

The date Hillcrest submits Customer’s book to the Digital Book Reviewer Program service will commence the one (1) month term during which Customer’s title is available through Digital Book Reviewer Program.

C. Renewal Term

Should Customer wish to continue Service for another one (1) month, Customer shall pay the Service fee of $399, and acknowledge that these same terms apply.

D. Termination by Hillcrest Media Group during Initial or Renewal Term

Throughout the service term of one (1) months, Customer is not allowed to contact individuals or media outlets that have reviewed Customer’s book. Customer is also not allowed to request any additional coverage of their book by said media outlet. Customer agrees to contact Hillcrest before attempting to contact any media outlet that has reviewed their book. If Customer contacts media outlet(s) without first contacting Hillcrest, Hillcrest will remove Customer’s book from the Digital Book Reviewer Program. Additionally, Hillcrest Media Group may terminate Customer’s general publishing contract and remove Customer’s book from distribution.

4. TIMELINE

A. For Print Books

If Customer’s print book is in Hillcrest’s publishing process, Hillcrest will begin service within ten (10) business days after the Electronic Proof step is complete, and Hillcrest has received required book information.

B. For Ebooks

If Customer’s book is in Hillcrest’s eBook publishing process, Hillcrest will begin service execution within ten (10) business days after the eBook Formatting step is complete, Customer has approved final eBook files, and Hillcrest has received required book information.

C. General

The date Hillcrest submits Customer’s book will commence the one (1) month term during which Customer’s book is available through the Digital Book Reviewer Program.

Customer acknowledges that reviews may be released prior to or after publication date.
